EDITING SERVICES
As a personal photo editor, I bring 20 years of experience as a photographer, editor, and business owner to fellow photographers, freeing up your time to focus on what you love most!Â
I offer both editing and retouching services – so what’s the difference? Photo editing typically involves basic adjustments like color correction, cropping, and composition. Retouching focuses on more specific enhancements, such as removing blemishes or smoothing skin – particularly for boudoir, newborn, senior portraits, and close-ups. Most clients’ photos involve both editing and retouching, but not always. For example, one newborn photographer edits her photos to her liking and then sends them to me for retouching, where I remove blemishes, smooth skin, and enhance details. Whether you need minimal adjustments or more in-depth work, I’m your girl!
A Few Important Facts When Hiring Me as Your Personal Editor:
- No Minimum Requirement: I don’t require a minimum number of galleries. If you want to test the waters with just one gallery to see if we’re a good fit, I’m happy to help without any obligation. I welcome both short-term and long-term clients – whether you need me during the busy season or year-round.
- Editing Tools: I primarily use Lightroom for culling, editing, and detailed retouching, and Photoshop for more extensive edits.
- Tailored to Your Style: I edit according to YOUR style. We’ll start with a phone call to discuss your preferences, and I’ll carefully study your work to understand you. Your editing style does not have to match mine. I can edit moody, light and airy, bold and colorful, and everything in-between. You’ll send me 3 high-res images with detailed instructions, and I’ll return them within 24 hours. (test images are completely free!)
- Individual Attention: Even if you provide a preset (which is not necessary), I still carefully review and edit each image to ensure consistency and quality. My goal is to deliver a gallery you won’t need to adjust. Tweaking until we are in sync is expected in the beginning.
- Timely Delivery: Weddings are delivered within one week, and sessions within three days of accepting the project. If my schedule is full, you can still send images with the understanding that delivery may take longer, and we will discuss the timeframe in advance.
Outsourcing your editing might be a good fit if the following sounds familiar:
- You want to take on more clients but feel restricted by the time you spend editing.
- You find yourself over-promising but under-delivering on gallery timelines and wish to provide quicker turnarounds.
- You never feel caught up – your editing list keeps growing, causing stress and burnout.
- You daydream about spending more time with family and friends or doing something just for yourself.
- During the busy season, you feel even more overwhelmed, and the excitement of extra income turns into frustration and sleepless nights.
- You catch yourself editing while your family is sleeping or having fun, and you just want your life back. (I hear this one the most!)
- Your days off or vacations become “catch-up on editing” days, and you desperately want this to change.
How Am I Qualified to Edit for You?
I began shooting professionally in 2005, and by 2008, I was hiring second shooters to help! As of 2024, I’ve photographed over 350 weddings and countless sessions, editing each one myself – no purchased presets or batch editing involved. I quickly learned that to be an exceptional editor for other photographers, I must prioritize a few key principles:
- Listen to my clients’ needs.
- Study your unique style.
- Deliver a beautiful gallery for your clients, just as I would for my own.
I’m a perfectionist – sometimes annoyingly so – but I believe this attention to detail is what sets me apart. Plus, my passion for this field continues to drive me forward, even after 20 years! I also never stop learning – I love exploring all the new features that Lightroom and Photoshop offer.
Why Do I Edit for Other Photographers?
The simple truth is that I genuinely enjoy it! I love taking a well-executed photo and making it the absolute best it can be. Culling weddings, editing skin naturally yet beautifully, making your images “pop,” and hearing how much your clients love their photos brings me so much happiness. It’s a team effort, and I cherish being a part of that process! I believe you have to truly love something to excel at it, and for me, that love fuels my work.
KIND
WORDS
“I recently used Tonya to help enhance some of my raw images, and I couldn’t be more impressed! She did an incredible job of transforming plain, flat shots into vibrant, dynamic photos that truly captured the essence of the moment. The attention to detail was fantastic, with perfectly balanced colors and lighting that brought the images to life. Her quick turnaround time and professionalism made the process seamless. I will definitely be using her services again for future projects! Highly recommend!”
